Yes! Weakly endorses
I’m Joe Wilson and I am asking for your vote.
In a post at Ed Cone’s blog the issue of not endorsing only in the presidential race becomes the topic. In my race the claims the weekly made about me are baseless smears and insulting. Another “endorsement” of a candidate (my opponent) who is chronically without “leadership” and in addition “lacks vision” according to YW and the N&R.

Joe:
I gave you an indadequate answer in our phone conversation on Wednesday. During our endorsement meeting we agreed that you have misrepresented your opponent (I know the language of the endorsement references “gross distortion’s of his opponent’s record”; you’ll have to take that up with Brian Clarey, who wrote the endorsement for your race).
I mentioned that we objected to your statement that Don Vaughan will vote with other members of his party for the real estate transfer tax when Vaughan told his supporters in the real estate community that he absolutely would not do that. On the matter of Vaughan allegedly losing his key card to access the Guilford County Courthouse, you told the Greater Guilford Republican Forum that he was “deemed a security risk” when it’s clear that Vaughan accesses the courthouse as a practicing lawyer several times a week. And you have said on several different occasions that the only way Vaughan could direct state resources to the Triad is through underhanded means, but you have presented no evidence that your opponent has engaged in corrupt activities or is beholden to interests other than those of his constituents (questioning whether he PAC contributions might buy a lawmaker’s vote is one thing, but you better have concrete evidence if you want to attack your opponent’s character on those grounds).
On the issues, we found little difference between you and your opponent. Granted, you differ with him on annexation, but this issue wasn’t important enough to us to swing our endorsement. I imagine that we would favorably consider a candidate who supported a real-estate transfer tax or floated some kind of smart growth plan for the Triad, but neither you nor Vaughan are that candidate. We found that the greatest difference between you and your opponent is a matter of style rather than substance, and we prefer his style over yours. Next time you run, consider clearly laying out your policy positions instead of attacking your opponent, and you may have a better shot at getting our endorsement.

GREENSBORO — Don Vaughan can give away the key to the city, but right now he’d settle for a key to the Guilford County Courthouse.
The county Security Department has de-activated the electronic ID badge that used to let Vaughan, a lawyer and City Council member, enter the courthouse through a special door.
The county issues the plastic cards so lawyers and other courthouse regulars can bypass the building’s metal detectors.
No more of that for Vaughan, though. County Security Director Jeff Fowler revoked Vaughan’s privileges after the councilman lost a record seven badges.
