the view from the bottom…

By Joe Wilson

How comforting it must be to look up at the rescue boat after you have sunk to the bottom. That’s what the citizen’s of the Cardinal area must be feeling after hearing that it is going to be illegal to do to someone what has been done to them.

Is it just me or does the  timing of the recent annexation seem to be very convenient based on what is going on in Raleigh now. I also  seem to remember that the City Council in 2001 sent a resolution to the N.C. General Assembly to block further municipal annexation in Greensboro, perhaps someone knows when that was rescinded to allow forced annexation here again.

Good question but where are the folks from the cardinal neighborhood , talking about this annexation? I would havve been livid and they could have made a statement at the Lobby the Legislature back in May about this forced annexation.

Just wait and see what Robbie and Zack have plans for out in pleasant ridge area.

The people in the Cardinal have been royally screwed. Plans were in the works to annex them eight years ago, but were put on hold so that they would have less political influence in the locating of the FedEx hub and third runway at PTI. They were played like a cheap violin.

I am happy the state finally called a halt to the rabid Greensboro City Council.

Joe I just can not understand how the people of this city can continue year after year to accept quietly the antics of the city government and not storm City Hall. I have only been here since October 2004 and from week one I have been absolutely flummoxed month after month as the people of the city are as Roch said above “royally screwed” and done nothing about it.

The latest is the bond issue in which Mitch Johnson again pulled the wool and with his cohorts Robbie Perkins and Goldie Wells has gotten away with it. $7 million for a downtown greenway put on the transportation bill when was much more is needed and times are getting hard. But Robbie gets what Robbie wants apparently.

And I am not going to get started on the state politics I promise! Do hope you get elected. Brenda Bowers
